On Monday, September 8, 2014 Mumbaikar’s will celebrate Anant Chaturdashi Day with great enthusiasm. It is the day on which Lord Ganesha Idols are immersed in Sea (Ganesh Visarjan). The day ends the 10 day Ganesh Chaturthi festival which started on August 29, 2014.
The Mumbai Traffic Police has made elaborate arrangements to regulate the traffic in Mumbai on Anant Chaturdashi day.
In Mumbai, the Immersion of Ganesh Idols is done mainly at the Girgaum Chowpatty, Dadar – Shivaji Park Chowpatty, Powai, Juhu and Versova.
- 37 Roads in Mumbai City have been closed for traffic on Ganesh Visarjan Day.
- 50 Roads have been made one-way on Ganesh Visarjan Day.
- Nearly 13 Roads have been closed for heavy vehicles.
- 61 Roads have been declared No- Parking Zones.
Apart from this, 88 lifeguards have been arranged by BMC and another 400 have been arranged by Mumbai Police.
Around 4,500 volunteers of the Aniruddha Bapu Academy of Disaster Management and 1,000 volunteers of the NCC and the NSS will aid the police in management of traffic.
