Ahmedabad Rath Yatra 2018 also known as the 141st annual Jagannath Rath Yatra will take place 14 July 2018 at Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
This Rath Yatra takes place on Ashad Shukla Dwitiya (second day in bright fortnight of Ashad month). As per the very old tradition the yatra starts from the 400-year-old Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad halts at Saraspur mandir and returns back to Jagannath mandir and this procession journed is around 15 kms.
Beautifully decorated chariots of three deities – Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Balram and their sister Subhadra is pulled by over 1,000 devotees. Apart from that as many as 18 decorated elephants take part in the procession, besides hundreds of trucks with tableau displaying facets of Indian culture along with security vehicles, bhajan mandlis, akhadas and of course millions of devotees.
Prior to the begining of the Rath Yatra, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would perform the symbolic cleaning of the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balram and Devi Subhadra, besides the road on which they will start their journey from the temple.
Timings as per the information the Ahmedabad Rath Yatra 2018 Puja will be from:
- Mangal Aarti to Lord Jagannath – 4 am;
- Special Bhog Kichdi – 4.30 am;
- Sri Jagannath will come to Rath at 6 am;
- Rath Yatra starts at 7 am IST.
- Rath Expected to Return to Temple at 6.30 pm
