Armed Forces Flag Day will be observed throughout the country on 7th December to remember the sacrifices made by the gallant servicemen in defending the integrity of the nation.
Since 1949, Armed Forces Flag Day has been observed annually in India on December 7.
The day is observed to remember the sacrifices made by the gallant servicemen in defending the integrity of our motherland and salute the martyrs, honour the brave and express solidarity and support towards welfare of widows, children, disabled and sick ex-servicemen.
In Hindi, this day is known as Sashastra Sena Jhanda Diwas – सशस्त्र सेना झण्डा दिवस.
On this occasion, the Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) officials will pin Armed Forces Flag Day Lapels on the President, Vice President, Defence Minister, Minister of State for Defence and the three Service Chiefs.
The day is also dedicated towards collection of funds from people of India for the welfare of the Indian Armed Forces personnel.
