The Augsburg Christmas Market is also known as Christkindlesmarkt is one of the oldest i.e. almost 500 years and famous Christmas Markets in Germany.
Best known and most unique are the angel performances shown every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 6:00 pm. On December 23 the angels appear at 7:00 pm and walk down stairs to the city hall’s portal.
Other parts of the Augsburg Christmas Market are the Christmas pyramid, Fairy tale Trail, set up in nine animated shop windows over 150 decorated stalls and offer a wide variety of hand crafted gift items and Christmas decorations.
The menu serves specialties, like Schupfnudeln, pinkie-shaped flour dumplings mixed with sauerkraut and bacon; Reibedutschi, grated potato pancakes with applesauce and Fleischküchle, a mixture of thick patty of chopped meat, bread, herbs and spices in the hamburger, nuts, candy, crepes, chocolates and last but not the least chestnuts are represented in many forms: roasted, chocolate covered, liqueur and honey.
