Engineer’s Day is celebrated in India every year on 15th September to commemorate the birthday of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a legendary engineer.
Sir M. Visvesvaraya (1861 – 1962) was globaly well known for his genius in the field of harnessing water resources. He was responsible for successful design and construction of several river dams, bridges and implementing irrigation and drinking water schemes all over India.
He served as Dewan of Mysore State from 1912 to 1919 and was considered to be an architect of the all-round development of Karnataka. considered to be the architect of the all-round development of Karnataka.
The Engineering fraternity of India celebrates “Engineers Day” on 15th September every year to commemorate he birthday of this most outstanding Engineer of all times.
On this day, the Institutions of Engineers (India) conduct meets and events. Young engineers are encouraged to put forward their ideas of innovations for betterment of the society. Many event are also organised on this day to acknowledge the role of Engineers’ in the society.
