Durga Puja also known as Sharadotsav or Durgotsava is an annual Hindu festival celebrated in South Asia by worship of the Hindu Goddess Durga.

Durga puja is regarded as the most important festival of West Bengal, where it is a five-day annual holiday.

The first day of the celebration starts with Bodhon on Maha-Shashti, which is like welcoming Goddess Durga and ends with immersing the idols in the nearby rivers, lakes and seas on the evening of Dashami.

In 2014 the five day Durga Puja will start from 29th September 2014 (Maha Shashti) and will end on 3rd October 2014 (Bijoya dashami).
