The Konark Festival is one of the biggest dance festivals held in India. It is a five day festival which is held in an open air auditorium with the Sun temple of Konark (A World Heritage Site in Orissa) as the backdrop.
The aim of this five-day event is to preserve, promote and reinterpret the rich cultural heritage of Orissa and to raise cultural awareness.
The Konark festival showcases a parade of India’s classical and traditional dance forms like the Kathak dance, Bharatnatyam dance, Chau dance, Manipuri dance, etc.
Apart from appreciating these dances, visitors can visit ‘crafts mela’ where they get to see handicraft items and get to taste delicious cuisines.
In 2016, Konark Festival will take place from February 19 – 23.
