6th December 2015 will mark the 59th Death Anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Every year people remember this great leader of India who died on 6th December 1956 at an age of 65.
Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly also known as Babasaheb was an Indian jurist, political leader, philosopher, anthropologist, historian, orator, economist, teacher, and editor. He was also the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of Indian Constitution.
Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar is no less a God for all Dalits, as he was the one who fought for their rights and it was because of him untouchables of India got converted to Buddhism.
Ever year on this death anniversary, people visit Chaitya Bhoomi, at Shivaji Park in Dadar where his last rites were performed. They observe this day as Mahaparinirvan Din. Dalits regard the visit to the Chaitya Bhoomi every year as a kind of pilgrimage.
Let us pay homage to the great one, and salute his work on his Marinirvan Day.
