Every year since 1947 people of Japan celebrates a day as “Respect for the Aged Day” as a national holiday to respect senior citizens of their country.
It celebrated on the third Monday of September, since 2003. Till 1965 this day was known as Old Folks’ Day. On this day all the citizens get an opportunity to show their love and respect today’s their elders.
In 2016, Respect for the Aged Day – Keirō no hi will be celebrated on September 19.
