The Sandkerwa also known as Sandy Festival is a very old festival being celebrated mainly in Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany.
It is the traditional Bamberger festival which is celebrated every year in the month of August in most of the ancient towns of Germany specifically in the sand.
On this day many local people set tents generally on the road sides and sell beer, wine, etc as beer is one of the part of the celebration during this five days festival. The records say that each during this festival lakhs of visitors gether in various cities of Germany for five days generally from thursday to monday to celebrated one of the largest folk festivals in Bavaria.
Bamberg is home to eight breweries, Brauerei Fässla, Brauerei Greifenklau, Brauerei Heller-Trum (Schlenkerla), Brauerei Kaiserdom, Keesmann Bräu, Klosterbräu, Mahrs Bräu and Brauerei Spezial, and one brewpub, Ambräusianum — an unusually high number for a city of 70,000.
