Tihar or Deepawali means the festival of lights in terai region of Nepal is a five days long Hindu festival celebrated in Nepal every year. The festival is celebrated from Trayodashi of Kartik Krishna to Katrik Shukla Dwitiya.
The five days are known as Kag Tihar, Kukur Tihar, Gai Tihar and Laxmi Puja, Gobardhan and Mha Puja and Bhai Tika.
In Nepali, people greet each other on Tihar by saying “Tihar ko Shubhakamana” or “Deepavali ko Shubhakamana”
In 2015, Thar will be celebrated from 8 to 13 November 2015.
