World Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on 5th October, as a special day for the appreciation of teachers who play a vital role in educating everyone and hence help in building a better and developed society.
UNESCO has been celebrating World Teachers’ Day every year on 5th October since 1994 in association with its partners, the International Labour Organization, UNDP, UNICEF and Education International (EI).
The theme / slogan of the World Teachers Day 2018 is yet to be announced.
The profession of a teacher is losing status in many parts of the world. The World Teachers’ Day is not just a celebration but also calls attention for the need to raise the status of the profession of a teacher. It call is very much needed not only for the benefit of teachers and students, but for society as a whole, to acknowledge the crucial role teachers play in building the future.
It is a well known fact all over the world that, a quality education offers hope and the promise of a comparative better standard of living for which competent and motivated teachers are required. At UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, the focus of the 2018 World Teachers’ Day celebration will be on how to attract top graduates to teaching and how to raise the status of teachers.

Note : Teachers’ Day is celebrated by many countries on different days like India celebrated Teacher’s Day on 5th September, the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan while United States celebrates National Teacher’s Day on first Tuesday of May.
